Edinburgh 2009

14.05.2009

It´s six o´clock and I wake up. I have breakfast and brush my teeth. I change my clothes and quickly take the last things to my suitcase. This was my last night. Today is May 13 th. Our departure back to Cologne. We drive to Lidle-Parking and meet our mentors. After ca. twenty minuites we are in Edinburgh at the bridge where we meet Mr Körner and Mrs Schlömer. Mrs Schlömer has birthday and she gets a present from our class. After a good half hour we arrive at Edinburgh Airport. The minuites are coming and we are all sad because this week was fantastic! Then we have our boarding. I sit down next to my friend and sleep...

We arrived at Scotland, first I saw the airport then the wonderful town with a lot of old buildings. We all were so excited but lucky to experience this adventure. Then I saw again in my eyes stores with kilts and the back piper who played a loud, nice melody. The weather was very headstrong, so in one minute it rained and in the next it was sunny. But in the moment of decision it started to rain so we didn´t go to Edinburgh castle but we visited the palace of Hollyroodhouse. It is an old palace where the Queen spent her nights when she visited Edinburgh. But then came the most important moment for us. It was our first meeting with our guest parents.

On the next morning after a special breakfast we went to Inverkeithing Highschool.
We went with the train. First we saw a normal building like every other school in Germany but inside it was so nice. In every room there were cards and pictures for each subjects. The rooms looked friendly. We went with one pupil to her or his lesson and got a traditional Scottish meal. In the afternoon we visited Edinburgh castle. There we weren´t alone. A lot of tourist made photos of the view on Edinburgh. In one of a lot of houses like a church or workers´ houses there were the crown jewels of Scotland.
On Saturday we went with a bus to the Highlands and to Loch Ness.
In all we went12 hours. Loch Ness was a big lake but unfortunataly we didn´t see Nessi.
Sunday was our “chilling day“. We went to Dynamic Earth. Tat was á museum of the origin of the world and their continents. We “flew“ with an elevator through the universe and time. After this we could do what we wanted in the town.
On the last day we went with a bus service to the sea.
It was very windy but wonderful because until this day we had seen only the town and the Highlands but not the sea and it was a beautiful adventure for this week.

It was a fantasic week because we saw another culture and we were a real class community and had a lot of fun together. We would visit Edinburgh any time again.

“Welcome at Cologne Airport. We hope, you have enjoyed your flight from Edinburgh to Cologne. Thank you for travelling and see you“

I wake up. We are at home. Yes, it was really the greatest time in scottland where I had a lot of fun...

I feel something in my hand. Oh no! What´s that...?
It´s a shell. My souvenir...
